In 2010 the Professor David Forbes Chairman of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in press stated in a response to pro-circumcision propaganda that circumcision was like a "surgical vaccine against HIV" that "this Message is a recipe for a public health disaster".
The 2 issues are as follows:
Circumcision does not prevent HIV.
Human beings use risk compensation behaviour when they believe they are protected.
Therefore stating circumcision is like a surgucal vaccine against HIV, is both inaccurate, and will lead to a false belief in circumcised men, and lead to risk compensation ie, having unprotected sex.
Professor Forbes was correct with more and more media reports showing circumcised men becoming infected with HIV, and performing risk compensation behaviours:

The latest evidence from Zimbabwe (Wednesday, 11 July 2012 15:35 Source AfricaReport) shows higher infections in circumcised men who believe they are now protected from HIV:

Now also reported in Press is the news that African men who have been recently circumcised believe they are immune to HIV, and have stated they no longer need to wear condoms!
This is truly a public health disaster in the making!
It's like a slow-motion train-wreck that we've been seeing unfold itself since 2006. We saw it coming, and we keep warning, but they aren't listening...
ReplyDeleteSooner or later the circumcision/HIV hoax is going to collapse in on itself, but by then it will have been too late.
The blood of millions will be on the hands of the WHO, UNAIDS, PEPFAR, Bill Gates, NIH, Johns Hopkins and others.
What will supersede this atrocity will only be that those responsible will be allowed to evade justice while they pretend nothing had ever happened.
It will be another day, business as usual...
