Wenn Erwachsene wollen wählen, um ihre eigenen Genitalien geschnitten, die eine individuelle Wahl sie für sich selbst machen kann, ist zu haben.





Tribal Psychologie hat das Potenzial, direkt mit den individuellen Menschenrechten in Konflikt stehen. AMEN

1.When acting in ways which relate primarily to their membership of a group, a person’s behaviour changes to reflect the beliefs and aspirations of the group rather than those of the individual. Therefore if the group cuts the genitals of its members to denote group membership, male or female, the aspirations of the group will take precedence over the aspirations of an individual, who may not want to have his/her genitals cut.  This is what leads to infant male circumcision, and FGM of female children. You find parents and in-particular mothers from circumcision cultures handing over their male newborns to be cut, and the girl children to be cut, even when it goes against their  maternal instincts to protect their baby or child from harm..

2. Tribal Psychology, is an important trait from hunter gatherer times when strong tribal identity was essential to survival, but it’s necessary for any group to find ways to emphasize the characteristic of group membership because it’s that identification with the group which helps promote cooperation and selflessness in the behaviour of its members.  In genital cutting cultures, circumcision is then seen as a ritual which not only denotes tribal membership, but at some level is seen as essential to the survival of a group.  You can see how circumcision cultures & its scientific institutions go and look for data, and even create experiments such as the African HIV trials, to show that circumcision is essential to human survival.  Look at the circumstances of the development of the trials. Epidemiological data from Africa showed that some uncircumcised populations had lower HIV infections than circumcised populations, however, the scientists ignored those populations, and the experiments were conducted where the uncut populations had higher hiv infections. The methodologies of the experiment favoured the cut group, and conflicting data minimized or ignored. This selection process and methodology allowed a greater chance for the a priori  hypothesis to be confirmed that circumcision protects against hiv which will ensure survival of the group. And the unrelenting use of this data by the Pro-Circumcisers who use what happens in high prevalence HIV Africa from the experiments with adult volunteers, as a justification to circumcise male infants in low prevalence hiv nations.  Medical institutions, and scientists from Circumcison cultures avoid or hide the fact that EU & Japan which dont circumcise have much lower HIV/STI's than the USA which has highest adult circumcision rates in the developed world.  Therefore circumcision is seen as an act of cooperation and selflessness to enhance survival of the group.  What is totally ignored here is the fact that most cultures/tribes of the world don't circumcise and have been very successful in surviving.

Negative Elements of Tribal Psychology with my additions in bold italics include:

1. Grandiose tribal self image: one’s own tribe has certain positive characteristics. Eg Look at Pro-Circumcision Propaganda: Circumcision makes the tribe more hygienic and clean; Circumcision looks better; Circumcision is better for sex; Circumcision is healthier.  Contrast this with the actual evidence that no medical organisation in the world recommends routine circumcision for the above reasons, and people from non-circumcision EU & Japan are healthier, live longer have lower hiv/sti's, and view the intact penis as healthy and normal.
2. The tribal shadow: other tribes are evil and inhuman.  Pro-Circumcision propaganda abounds with the demonization of the foreskin and the uncircumcised.  Contrast this with most of the world 70 to 75% rejects circumcision, and the healthiest nations with the healthiest people are uncircumcised.
3. Group polarization Tribal identity gains dominance over that of an individual’s self identity in situations of tribal conflict and competition. Pro-Circumcision uses the propaganda slogan of its the Parents Rights to decide on circumcision, denying the rights of the child to choose for himself.  That intactivists are evil prople who want to deny parents rights.  Contrast this with the strongest arguments against circumcision which are based on human rights and on ethical grounds, that it needs to be the individuals right to choose when they are an adult and make an informed consent decision for themselves.  Pro-circumcision cultures emphasise the group, anti-curcumcision groups emphasise individual rights.
4. Group think: humans have evolved a tendency to conform to the predominant beliefs and opinions of groups to which they belong. Holding opinions contrary to the consensus engenders stress in the individual, and carries with it the risk of social exclusion. Look at Pro-Circumcision propaganda how it promotes circumcision as the normal healthy thing to do, and labels intactivists, as foreskin fetishists, evil people, and extremists.

The essay drew following conclusions and I add my interpretation in bold italics:

• Tribal group environments have been important in the evolution of the underpinnings of human psychology, and for that reason people are powerfully influenced by factors which reinforce group identity. Therefore we have a difficult task ahead of us to convince those that believe circumcision is important to group identity.  WE need to select and use our strategies carefully, and slowly emphasise that genital status has nothing to do with group identity in a modern world.  That observance of individual human rights in the modern world, helps us belong to the world of civilised & moral human beings. Obviously one strategy to get there is to use education and informed discussion to educate. The arguments that reinforce the essentiality of circumcision for survival have to be debunked, because they are such a powerful reinforcer, and why the ProCirc’s use fear as a motivator to circ.  Also note how some Jews themselves have abandoned the circumcision for the brit shalom a non-cutting ceremony to admit membership to the jewish community.  So you dont have to cut to be a jew.
• Identification with a group polarizes divisions between the group and a category of others who form the group’s enemies. WE need to be careful if we are to persuade that we are not the enemies.  We can educate & say that belonging to the group of humanity or any social group is completely independent of genital status Cut or UnCut.
• Individuals are inclined to conform their thinking to that of the group, even against their personal self interest. This is where individual human rights have to be emphasised, that group think cannot allow the violation of these rights. Note individual psychological defence, “I;m so glad I was circumcised as a baby” never matter they were denied their functional anatomy and they never had a say.
• Leaders understand how to take advantage of this psychology with jingoistic posturing and celebration of romanticised historical icons. This creates a narrative for the group which engenders heightened levels of polarization and group think. This is where we have to Challenge medical organizations and their leaders, law-makers and politicians, to emphasise individual human rights over that of group cultural rights.

Where this process of Tribal Psychology may have been an advantage to the survival of a tribe or the individuals which made up that tribe, it is clearly not in the interests of the individuals in the modern world. For that reason it is essential that individuals become aware of this psychology and insist that politicians/medicos/law makers refrain from. Circumcision of babies and children male or female is not important for the survival of any group, and is a violation of the individual human rights of that individual.  The modern world needs to give pre-eminence to individual human rights particularly of children, and that they be protected from genital cutting practices.  If adults want to choose to have their own genitals cut, that is an individual choice they can make for themselves.

Tribal Psychology has the potential to directly conflict with individual human rights.  AMEN

Problem with Mathematical Modelling in Circumcision & HIV Prevention

The whole basis of mathematical modelling is based on the accuracy of assumptions they are based on, and their ability to accurately predict the future from these assumptions.  If the assumptions the mathematical modelling are based on, are in any way incorrect, false, distorted or less than assumed, then the mathematical predictions based on those flawed assumptions will be totally inaccurate.

The mathematical modelling which was used by researchers to convince the WHO to endorse circumcision in Africa are fundamentally flawed.  Basically the assumption is this, the results from the clinical trials assumed that circumcision was the only variable that accounted for a reduction in HIV infections and therefore this will translate will translate exactly into the exact proportion of future reductions in HIV infections in the real life circumstances of Africans, .Any innacuracy in assumptions will totally distort any mathematical predictions based on these assumptions.

Lets look at the flaws in these assumptions

That men will not modify their behaviour following circumcision, such as have sex without using condoms believing they are protected by circumcision, less condom use is a completely different assumption not accounted for, and if occurs as some evidence already suggests, will totally change the predicted outcomes of  reduction in hiv infections

The research did not prove life-long protection only partial episodic protection (relative to the trial conditions for only 18months, and did not follow and support them for the course of their lives).

The trials also did not reflect not real world settings, and therefore how can they be applicable to real world settings. Eg. Clinical trilas with education, counselling, educations, 1st world medical treatment.

Rarely reported or emphasised, A significant number of circumcised men in the study became infected with HIV.

The participants were not randomly selected, but selected themselves, creating a potential bias or distortion in the generalisability of the results to any general population.

The participants were paid adult male volunteers who wanted to be circumcised and therefore had a bias in favour of it, and could possibly have been in favour of circumcision because they were high risk candidates who had unprotected sex (no condoms) with multiple sex partners, and were looking for a way to maintain high risk behaviours

Therefore as the participants were not randomly selected, and were a potentially biased self-selected sample of the population, the results cannot be extrapolated to general populations outside of this population sub-group. (Van Howe & Storms, 2011)

Inadequate Controls: Participants in the trials were not treated equally with the circumcised group given more education about healing from surgery, advised to not resume sex for 6 to 8 weeks and therefore, abstained from sex longer, and participants were given greater time and emphasis about wearing condoms during the period of healing from surgery. No control was undertaken to examine possible non-sexual blood exposures by participants. No control was undertaken for dry sex as practised by some african cultures. No control for the sex (gender) of partners, and no control for anal intercourse. (Van Howe & Storms, 2011)

Unexplained and disrtorting the statistics was the finding that in the first three months of the Kenyan trial, five men became HIV-positive who reported no sexual activity in the period before the seroconversion (0.73/100 person-years, 95%CI=0.30-1.76). (Van Howe & Storms, 2011)

Data suggests a percentage of infections were from non-sexual exposures, with 23 infected men reporting no sexual contact without a condom. No explanations or investigations undertaken for non-sexual exposures to HIV infections. (Van Howe & Storms, 2011)

The African HIV Trial researchers were all pro-circumcision and with a history of activism in the area.

Nearly 10 times as many participants dropped out of the clinical studies as were infected, with HIV status unknown.

The studies were ended early exagerrating effects.

The vast majority of participants in the study were HIV free, therefore, why was no attempt made by researchers to identify the 100% condom users and compare these to the circumcised group, Was 100% condom use more effective than circumcision = Most probably yes!! but researchers did not want to find this and report it.

No long term follow-up possible with all subjects circumcised at end of trial.

Researchers used speculative hypotheses to explain trial findings, such as Langeran present in the foreskin cells are targeted by HIV, whereas later research found Langeran cells actually kill HIV. (Van Howe & Storms, 2011)

The studies had such high numbers of participants leading to an overpowering of the statistical analysis, inflating the results. (Van Howe & Storms, 2011)

French demographer Garenne criticised the findings by demonstrating that interventions with a near 50% clinical trial efficacy had very little population effect.

At best the research findings are only valid for adult circumcision volunteers, and populations with high prevalence of HIV, not babies or low prevalence nations. At worst the research is so floored the findings only have validity within similar research conditions and virtually zero validity for real world situations.

Harvard Professors display scientific illiteracy when it comes to circumcision

Is this Ignorance, Group Think, Confirmation Bias, Cultural Blindness or what?  It appears that the defence of circumcision turns even the most intelligent human beings into ignorant imbeciles!  Stephen Pinker (Psychologist and Cognitive Scientist) stated that "loyalty to a social group often over-rides truth", and probably best explains how Harvard Professors appear scientfically illiterate.


Read the following from an interview with 2 x Harvard Professors on the subject of circumcision:

 "Dr. Essex Harvard Professor has indicated, male circumcision is much cheaper than condoms + education (one male circumcision in southern Africa is < U$100 and each condom costs almost U$1.00).   Dr Plank stated --  "I can say, however, that male circumcision is a one-time intervention with life-long benefit".

But get this = The authors of the African Studies recommended circumcised men should still use condoms consistently, because circumcised men still become infected, therefore the cost of circumcision needs to include the lifetime cost of condoms.  

How could a Harvard Professor not understand "you have to add the cost of circumcision and the cost of a life of condoms!! Education about safe sex and HIV is also a moral imperitive so education has to be part of any program.  So in actual fact circumcision makes HIV prevention MORE EXPENSIVE!!

How is it that 2 x Harvard Professors make such  basic ERRORS?  Is it BIAS or INGORANCE? or Cultural Blindness???     It appears that the defence of circumcision makes even Harvard Professors Scientifically Illiterate!! Even the rabid pro-circ researchers recommended circumcised men needed to wear condoms!!  The big fear being that circumcision leads to behavioural disinhibition and men stop wearing condoms, = is not even discussed by these professors? . If Harvard professors get this so very wrong, what chance have poor illiterate uneducated Africans got?  A Public Health disaster is in the making here, it is so very sad.

The circumcision issue seems beyond Reason & Logic for these people, it appears to be such a deeply rooted tribal custom and an unconscious loyalty to their social group, which interferes with their scientific thinking, very sad for Americans & Africans.

Loyalty to the social group trumps the truth.

When a baby dies from circumcision you find out the truth that circumcision is valued more than a baby's life

The most disturbing aspect of a child dying from circumcision other than the unnecessary tragic loss of life is the efforts to protect circumcision. This post documents some recent deaths (listed below) ( though I have stopped this recently as I find it too distressing) and also to highlight the lengths people will go to protect circumcision, even when its caused the death of a child?  So beware in a circumcision culture, circumcision is considered more valuable and important than your baby's life! Your baby is expendable to the tribe, circumcision is more important to the tribe than your baby, at least understand this.

The pattern of behaviour you find when a baby or child dies from circumcision, is that often the circumcision is not blamed, but the incompetent circumciser, a deficiency in the baby, or the parents are usually blamed!  The parents often so hurt, in shock and confused, dont know what to do or say. Please dont blame the parents in this time of grief........

Unfortuntely & Sadly, Yet another death of a baby bleeding to death following circumcision. 09/03/13: Condolences to the Family. It is not the families fault but that of the medical profession for performing unnecessary surgery on a baby. And what do we find from the ProCutters of Twitter doing? More and More promotion of infant circumcision, they obviously value circumcision more than human life.

In Sept 2011 the media reported another baby died from circumcision, this time resulting from the complications of contracting herpes from a Rabbi who was infected with herpes who sucked the baby's penis following a circumcision!! Its hard to believe isnt it???? Making me Vomit, they;re blaming the jewish mother now, for not caring for the baby properly??  Even harder to believe is the lack of outrage at the death, and the defense of the Mohel & circumcision,???  More astonsihing is that people are still defending circumcision, they just value circumcision more than a human life????????? The Twitter procircs tried to distance themselves by claiming it wasnt circumcisions fault it was the archaic and rare jewish religious practice that was to blame, not their special type of circumcision (which also claims lives)

For me, when a baby dies from circumcision i feel great sorrow.  I think this is a preventable death, and why does this still happen.  I also feel outrage that in the 21st century babies still die needlessly, and are sacrificed for tradition. I'm outraged with medicine also. How can an ethical medical practitioner perform this risky surgery on a pefectly healthy infant.  I begin to feel a sense of anger towards the medical profession, and those that constantly promote the practice.  It motivates me to educate, and to try and end this primitive tribal practice, and hope that my efforts spare at least a few babies from the risk of harm.

For the pro-circumcision crowd, what you'll notice is the first thing they do when a baby dies from circumcision is to defend the practice of circumcision!!  Or they'll be deafly silent wanting all to fade away from peoples memory so they can go on promoting.  Or they get into the blame game. They blame the parents for not being vigilant enough, they blame the medical staff for negligence, they make up stuff like the baby just died spontaneously fron sudden infant death syndrome, NOW they're even blaming BREASTFEEDING http://www.monitor.co.ug/News/National/-/688334/1312742/-/b1gmqez/-/ the thing they wont blame though is the practice of circumcision, because their actions demonstrate that the practice of circumcision is worth more than a human life!!  This truly sickens me!!!!!!

The Defence of Circumcision is not a good look

When you hear people defending circumcision, the look is not good.  When doctors defend circumcision they appear to be unethical, medically and scientifically illiterate, and protecting self-interest.  It brings shame to the medical profession.  When parents defend circumcision, they can appear as if their own interests and preferences for male genitalia are more important than what nature intended and evolved over a million years, and or what their son may want choose for himself.  This is just so shameful, it is primitive and disrespectful to the individual the circumcision impacts. The list goes on and on.............. its not a good look
